Albion makes some good swords, no doubt there, but I prefer Atrims. I'm more about performance than appearance and that is why.

I think that I am going to have to agree with you. If I had tons of money to spend and I was mainly collecting I would go with Albion, but for performance I think Atrims are probably somewhat better.

These two are hard to compare to me. I love some single handed types more than others, and some longsword types more than other longsword types. I like XVIa more among the longswords than XII among the singlehanders, so I choose Crecy. If Antioch had type Xa or XI blade, I would choose it.

I like two handed and one handed swords. I am somewhat partial towards two handed swords, but I think that the Antioch might handle better than the Crecy. Yes, it is hard to compare them. I wouldn't know because I have never even handled a real sword at all, I am just going by the videos and reviews that I have observed.

Does anybody even have an Antioch yet?

yes, there are three prototypes running around out there in people's hands and at least one of them is in the hands of a member of our forum. I'll give you three guesses who has it but if you think about it you'll only need one. also take into consideration that I am ordering one and have put money down which I wouldn't do if I had one already.

"Albion Crecy versus AT/CF prestige line Antioch Type XII, which handles better?"Christian Fletcher is the only person who could answer this question, since he's the only person who has handled both. And I'll bet you couldn't pry an answer out of him with a giant crowbar, sharpened or not. But if pushed to the wall, I would say this is a silly question. Kind of like asking "What's a better vehicle for me, a Chevy Corvette or a Ford F150 4x4 truck?"The answer would always be "Depends on what you want."

yeah, I compared it to do you want a sports car or a speed boat? I agree 100% and I think Jonathan is a sports car guy and therefore wants the two handed sword. ;D

Ha ha, it is impossible to get a straight answer out of some people.

That's because there is no "right" answer. You're going to have to accept that some questions have only opinions as answers. And they are never totally correct. If there actually was a "correct" answer, we would all own one sword... and they would all be the same sword.

as usual, Mike has hit it square in the center. you need to find out what is best for you. we can only help you so much in that.
that's the reason I chose the CF/AT in this question. I know what is my preference and type XII arming swords are right in the center of what I love. even if I didn't think the Antioch is going to be THE top performing type XII out there I would prefer it to the Crecy because I like the type better. ok AND I have some brand loyalty with ATrims swords AND one (only one) less than good experience with Albion. but at this price range once bitten is definitly twice shy. even though that Albion sword I didn't like ended up getting my two swords that I LOVE. so it wasn't all that bad.

I like two handed and one handed swords almost exactly the same, with a little teeny bit of preference for two handed swords, but not much. That's why it is so hard for me to pick one. It isn't like I just hate one handed swords and absolutely love two handed swords, I like both. I am really thinking about flipping a coin now.

It's funny you should say that, because while I am at work I usually cut grass, and while I am doing that I am thinking about my sword decision making most of the time. I got a head-ache Tuesday, so I wonder if there is a connection, ha ha...

The only way to definitively answer that question is for you to have both in-hand to compare. You could follow the recommendations of others but lets face it, we aren't all wired the same- what does it for ShooterMike and Tom may not do it for you, or me.
I chose the Antioch; it suits me better than the Crecy. I actually have Windlass' version of the Crecy so it might be coloring my decision but that is one Albion sword that I felt nothing for. Just my two cents.

I like two handed/bastard swords better anyways. I don't think that I will be getting either of these two swords, though.
