Something that I have been wondering about regarding the Cold Steel Viking sword is its pommel/tang assembly is: peened or threaded? The review by Sandman says that the tang is invisibly peened, but that isn't consistent with most of Cold Steel's models, which are mostly threaded.

Mine was threaded with a blind nut, I cut it down and peened it and made the fittings more like they should from the 1000 AD..........SanMarc

So there is a nut that is screwed on under the pommel? Or is it just the pommel that screws on to hold the hilt together?

Hilt first, then wood, then pommel then nubby blind nut that sticks out of the pommel, had to grab it with a vicegripp to undo it.....SanMarc.
I can Email you the after pics of the sword, I just did not take any befor pics.

That won't be needed, but thank you for the offer. Was the blind nut difficult to remove? Judging by what they generally look like, if the nut is really close to the pommel, tightening or loosing the nut would be rather hard

Yes the nut was hard to gethold of, if you modify it by cutting a slot for a screwdriver, then you can tighten it, and there is a nut under the pommel as well, just rememberd that, I wasnt happy with the way it was put together......SanMarc.

So it sounds like they tried to make it so the hilt wouldn't loosen easily. Thanks for the information, sir.
