From what I've read and heard, the sword is pretty much the same as the game; looks nice when you see it in the pictures, but falls flat when you try it. I doubt that it's downright horrible quality or anything, though.

Well, the blade itself looks good, but the wrappings and fittings look cheesy; the suede handle wrap looks very cheap. I LOVED the game, I still play it from time to time just for the swordwork.
I think I may commission a similar sword (as this is very similar to the firangi) but not an exact copy.

I liked the fighting when I first played, but then I realized enemies only ever attack you one at a time. -.-
Which then makes the combat "Wait for enemy, press one button to counter".
I just hope the second game will improve it.

As do I my friend, as do I ;D Yup, I had a feeling the grip would be the letdown of this sword. A pity really. I wouldn't mind seeing a review of this sometime just to see it's characteristics.

From what I've seen of the design and the materials, its overall purpose is to compliment the costume. Frankly, it's meant to sit in the scabard, period . --Edward

Need reference pictures/links. No, haven't ever handled it so I wont comment on it. That said, I wanna see if it looks any thing real-swordy.

My brother bought that sword. He really likes it... however I was less than impressed. Seems like a decent enough sword, but like everyone else is saying, the fittings (esp the guard) seems cheaply done... then again, maybe its supposed to look that way. Looks like a capable cutter though. I'll try to talk my brother into joining the site and submitting a review.

I almost bought this sword when it came out... I never played the game but I liked the look of the sword, and the Pics at KoA made it look pretty cool. I figured it would be a good sword to review because I know the game is really popular, so people would be interested. However, I got to handle one at MRL and I was very, VERY disapointed. It feels very flimsy and cheaply made to me... the guard, handle, pommel, all really cheap. The blade is 'meh' but a bit overweight for what it is... and the whole package feels like it wants to fall apart in hand.

Yup, gonna have to commission that one...but the one I want is the one you win towards the end of the game (Level 2 Assassin's sword) with the curved/swept brass guard and single-edged curved blade...that one was a beasty.

I loved the game, but I got to handle this sword and it was very disappointing. The Furniture is all painted instead of polished. It looked accurate to the game model, but I couldn't tell how it was put together.

Is this the sword that you are referring to?
www.medievalware.com/PhotoGallery.asp?ProductCode=883015RM
This is the first time that I've seen this blade. I've played the game and look forward to the sequel this November ;D. The retailer says that it's a Windlass Steelcrafts. Is this a reputable manufacturer?
The sword looks nice, and I'm not quite catching onto what many of the others are saying about the wrappings being cheesy. Maybe it's my eyes or the fact that I can usually judge things better when I'm actually holding it

Windlass makes some pretty decent stuff, but not always the best, and sometimes you get a lemon. They're pretty cheap though, so you usually get a pretty good value. Both of the swords I have are by Windlass, and I'm quite happy with them, though neither of them is perfect. The next few swords I get will likely be by them as well.
Anyway, yes that's the sword we're talking about. It doesn't really catch my eye but to each their own. My main concern with it would be how it handles.

So I just got, played, and finished the game and really liked it, and now I'm kinda wanting to buy some of the merchandise, but maybe not the sword. Has anyone handled the knife or seen it in person? KoA says the hilt is cast straight onto the blade, which sounds pretty sturdy, but it doesn't look horribly comfortable. I'm also curious about balance and overall handling. If it turns out to be decent I might pick it up if I can find it on sale somewhere.

At MRL's showroom they have ALL the Assassin's Creed stuff out... they have a dummy dressed up in the whole outfit waring the sword, the whole nine. I didn't handle the knife, so I can't saying anything about it. Stay AWAY from the Assassin's Creed sword tho... it looks cool in pics but up close and in the hand, its a POS.
