I have had this sword for about 5 years (one of 10 Darksword made)it's a darn good copy of the movie sword and it's useable I had origionally wrapped the handle in cheap red leather it looked ok.Now i want to put it on ebay,I would put it on the classifieds but I'm not sure what it's worth. It is 5160 steel not the cheap stainless and has all solid brass hardware,it's actually a nice copy of the movie sword. Anyway i rewrapped the handle in what is very close to what the movie sword had,i used natural leather braided bolo cord,wicked strong. when i bought it a scabbard was included but well what a piece of junk.It has a solid wood frame but the metal decorations on it were loose and all had blotches of glue on them. I rewrapped it in what i think matches the movie scabbard (the gray fur from the wolfs that wouldnt let him pet them ;-) . and I made a leather strap that attaches to it so it can be carried over your back plus i was going to add the case in. I really hate to sell it but money is very tight around here pretty soon we might have to live in a refridgerator box. Like i said i would put it on classifieds but i dont know what to ask for it. Well i just wanted to show the work i did to see what you all think. wish i could take better pictures.    |

I think the grip, scabbard, and overall sword looks very nice, good job!
You will need to be careful in your listing on ebay to make sure folks realize that this is a "real" sword, and not a wall hanger like most (if not all) the conan swords on ebay are. Make sure you highlight this information.

Thanks Gaffer,I was hoping that it being a real sword (and sharp) would help it price-wise. The only other ones i have seen that were real useable were the Albion ones so maybe this one is kind of rare.

that is a great looking sword, how much does it weigh?POB / lengths??

It's a bit over 8 lbs and although I havent measured it in a while I remember when I bought it the sizes were very close,one of the reasons I got it (the blade size was exact) as the Albion one. My wife actually got it for me for christmas about 5 years ago we couldnt afford the $2500.00 for the Albion one and this one had the correct fittings and a real blade. I dont think at 8 lbs POB dosent matter much but I'll check it later but it is tough recovering after a swing. The Conan swords are definitaly fantasy not even Arnold could fight long with an 8 lb sword but it is a great movie design and started me on my SAS (sword aquisition syndrome) disease. With Filmswords not doing conan swords anymore I figure mine is one of the few thats actually a real sword.

Good luck with the sale. If you put it on ebay list it at the 'from' price you want for it. Dont expect the auction to build up from 99c to a decent price. It may take a few listings, and you don't want it going for $50.
I'd say try for a grand to 1200 and see how you go. And sell it in the listing.

thanks for the advise,i havent put anything on evilbay for years and i wasnt sure how to start off the price. after thinking about it I was going to start it out maybe around 4 to 5 hundrend dollars and set a reserve but I'm not sure what to expect (or i would have put it out on the classifieds here) I'm not trying to be greedy with it but I'm out of work and the bills are getting out of hand around here so if i can get some decent cash for it I would be very happy. I'm hopping having the scabbard with it will help, I realize it's not up to the Quality of Albions but it's solid and the fur looks pretty good along with the leather (I guess youd call it a ) baldric,well it hangs good over your shoulder like conans did in the movie,I left it longer on purpose so whoever buys it can cut it to fit .I think just the the scabbard with fur on the film swords site was going for something like $800.00 IMO quite redickulas! Plus I am including the gun case it fits great,i even have a boxed copy of both conan movies with special features I was thinking of adding to everything. Hey anything helps. If you think of any other ebay things I should know please let me know.
