It's weird but for some reason I always wince when I hear or see the term "Battle Ready". I couldn't judge this particular sword mate, but if you want some tried and tested Windlass or Hanwei swords of a similar type I suggest www.superiorsteel.co.nz/ or www.wargod.co.nz/mainframe.html. Since they're just across the ditch the shipping should be quite reasonable. Edit: However that's not to say that this sword is bad or anything! Just an alternative if needs be

Was it you who asked about this sword on myarmoury? If so, do you still think about Hanwei Bastard or you decided that you don't like it? Anyway, I recommend this one: www.museumreplicas.com/p-300-sword-of-roven.aspx . It is similar to one you posted and it was reviewed favorable here.

That piece from Global Gear has nice lines. Since they are much closer and more accessible to you, I would look hard and critically at it, giving it due consideration.
Given it has a 36" blade, if it's built correctly it should have substantial distal taper and weigh between 3 and 4 lbs. If it's over 3.5 lbs it's pretty beefy. If it's over 4 lbs, my opinion would be that it's not built correctly as a sharp sword.
Ths PoB could be anywhere from 4 to 8 inches and it still be a good sword... or not.
I suggest contacting Global Gear and asking them for the critical specs. To me, those would be:
Blade Length: Overall Length: Point of Balance: Weight: Blade thickness at the guard: Blade thickness 2 inches behind the tip: Blade width at the guard: Blade width 2 inches behind the tip: Location of forward and rear points of vibration:
They should provide all the size measurements as 0.123" (thousandths on an inch) if they are machinists. That will prove they are actually measuring the sword. If not, I would be suspicious of made-up answers.
The real info you are looking for are: Weight: Blade thickness at the guard: Blade thickness 2 inches behind the tip:
The answers should be something like: Weight: 3lbs 14 ozs (or whatever it actually is) Blade thickness at the guard: around 0.250" Blade thickness 2 inches behind the tip: 0.110" to 0.140"
That would describe a properly weighted longsword with distal taper approaching 50%. Those have always been a pretty good rule of thumb for me for getting a sword that handles like a sword.
Good luck.

Yes, if you ask me, you should wait for the Tinker Great Sword. Shooter, I wouldn't really expect 50% distal taper on a sub 200$ sword.

Yeah, me neither. But it never hurts to ask. ;D And put me down in favor of waiting for the Hanwei Tinker sword too. I KNOW it will be worth it.

I'm suss on them. The grip looks very thin at the blade end and I wonder how much tang beef that could be hiding. Not much perhaps. I know their G series stuff isn't up to Hanwei's quality, and wonder if these are from a similar source.
I have bought in a couple of swords from US with no delays or hiccups, and know a guy in perth who just recently bought a whole plethora of swords at different times from KoA even up to 60" long and got them all in good time and with no hiccups. By good time I mean 2 weeks or less. KoA have the best shipping fees to Aus that I've found. I post them out to USA frequently too with no complications.
