okay...people....shut up!... I was asking about the katana which looked über. It's not my fav action movie either but still..the pure white katana is cool. That it's cool is not a matter of my opinion....it just is cool. <---- notice the accentuation on "is" right there. Okay, go ahead hijacking my thread again. ;D

is it so hard to believe that some people just watch movies for what they are, knowing full well that they are totaly wrong (or full of crap). if we only watched movies that were believeable then most ( if not all ) action movies would be out of the question. i cannot believe that people read so much into a movie that is so intentionaly un believeable. it is set in a future world . i think we should lighten up a little and take them for what they are, an escape form reality. sorry if this offends but it is just a movie not real. buy the way if you watched the third matrix you would have noticed that neo also has his 'powers' in the real world when he stops all the squidgy (sorry cant think of what they are called) things. so where is the reality of which you speak. just my @ cents If you actually read what I wrote.. it's NOT that a movie has to be belivable within TRUE reality.... it's that it has to be belivable within the reality created BY the movie. IE: The writer and director must create a world wherein I would accept the crazy fantastic stuff that heppens as possible, because the context they have laid out explains it. Your example of the Matrix 3 is totaly wrong, however. Neo does NOT gain his powers in the real world... he can't fly, he is no stronger or faster then normal... he learns how to extend his connection to the mechines, so that he can shut them down. He still can not just up and break the laws of physicas in the 'real' world, as he does so often in the 'Matrix'... because in the real world he is still just a flesh and blood man. There are MANY action oriented movies that either (A) make the action at least somewhat beliavable or (B) Create an 'in-movie' explination for the impossible feats performed within the story, that makes sense within the story. Those are the movies I like... the ones that are well thought out enough to actually create a world that makes sense within the context of the story... and not just a bunch of flashy cheese that I am supposed to just accept because 'It looks cool.' Without a compeling in-story reason that makes sense to me in the context of the fil world created, it dosn't look cool to me at all, just silly. The fact that it's set in a 'future world' does not explain the feats of superhuman insanity that the main character performs in the film, no the amazing feats of subhuman innaccuracy displayed by his opposition. If his character were endorwed with some form of hyper gentic enginer that enhanced his reflexexs and congnative abilities beyond the norm, was cyberneticly enhanced in some fassion, SOMETHING to explain how he performs acts of lunacy no human being could hope to perform, that would explain most of it... then you would still have to explain how no one ever is able to hit him with full auto fire and no cover. Ebon: I said I prefer realisim... but I still enjoy films that are unrealistic aslong as a proper enviroment is created for those 'over the top' antics within the film. Example... Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. In that movie they create a world where martial arts training can allow you to break some of the laws of reality, like gravity. Not just ONE person, with no credible explination, is doing this... LOTS of people with different sources of training do so... and so you accept that in this world, this is the reality. In Movies like Equilibrium or Romeo must Die, where it's just ONE person who can aparently violate the laws of reality for no good reason, I get annoyed and lose interest in the movie. Swordnut: Very true... the stark White Katana *IS* super cool looking... and I'd like to own one... but I don't think I'd ever use it, cuz it would show ever speak of dirt and grime so easily.

Use that beauty? NEVER! Maybe only after taking a shower, washing my hands 5 times with soap and brush and only cut very well rinsed tatami once in a while. But nothing more!
A katana that pure can only be handled by a pure person. IMO

Ah, but that's just using my argument with different trappings; besides, ALL of the Grammaton Clerics had that ability, just that Bale's character was the premier Cleric, the best.
Sure, all of the folks had wire-work abilities, but only a few were THAT good, IMO. Suspension of belief...that's all it boils down to.
But as I'm not trying to argue, I'll accede your point...but I still put forth that mine is just as valid.

He wasn't just 'the best'... the stuff they had him do put him on a whole different level then any of the others. You have to suspend disbelife to be taken into any fantasy world... but it helps alot when the writer/director do their part and create a world that makes sense within its own context, then I can suspend disbelife easily and accept their world as they created it. However, when there world dosnt make sense or is filled with blatent incosistnecies, I can't get into it. However, thats just me. I know lots of people don't put that much thought into it.

Sword looks to be of "higher" low end, I'd say it'd probably be worth 200 bucks, sure.

Why is a 1095 "spring steel" blade? How can 1095 be springsteel? Shouldn't it be 52 or 92?

52 indicates chromium, 92 indicates manganese and silicon. 1095 is just iron and carbon, which I understand is a common alloy for making leaf springs.
Hated the movie.

mm kawashima any good? Never noticed anyone saying they bought and handled one. Randy (Morphous) had one of the previous generation that was TH... and he said his was a very nice blade, one of his favorites. The new one is DH and maybe better, maybe not... I don't know anyone who has the new one.
