I was wondering if the white katana the main protagonist wields in the final stages of the movie Equilibrium? Its a ceremonial white katana he hands over to a guard. (he doesn't fight with it...sadly ) edit: Cant find a pic

I do. I was searching for it myself a while back, but couldn't find any. Guess Equilibrium isn't well known enough.. The closest I got to a (good) white katana was this.

Equilibrium was an AWESOME movie...Christian Bale is the star for those who have not seen it. Excellent action flick with some really cool fight scenes; I believe the sword he hands over to the guardsman is ceremonial, as it looked like he wore it as part of his dress uniform (white suit).
I imagine you could probably have it made; bet Marc at wiwingti could work with you on that. Or point you to someone who can. I do not believe they made a movie version of that sword for the public-at-large.

You guys don't even know what I'm talking about do you? Sadly, yes... I DO know what your talking about... and get somewhat ill whenever I think of that movie. I have not seen a version of that sword specificly, but there are a few white katana out there if you look.

I love that movie. I watch it so much, I've practically worn the edges away on my DVD . I'm looking around for 'white' 'snow' or 'winter'-themed katana, and so far I just can't find anything of value. Lot's of replica pieces, though. --Edward

Yep that's the one. And I want a katana that can do THAT to a man's skull and come out just as perfectly polished and clean as it went in. ^^ *drool*

Hold UP, Sean. What didn't you like about this movie? I hope you did not watch it for its enthralling story...cuz that would be BAD. We had a whole debate on this in the cafe awhile ago... got a bit heated, actually... My problem with the movie was a lack of what I call 'internal cosnsitency.' Basicly, if a movie is going to have INSANE over the top impossible action that no living human could possibly perform... they have to create a world and a reason that allows for that for me. A good example is the Matrix... the action thats over the top in that movie is well explained by the story... they are using the power of their minds to break boundires, not their bodies... in the real world, they are just as physicaly limited as you and me. Almost anyone could kick Neo's ass face to face. However, in the Matrix, he is able to do increadible things because he can minuplate the code. A bad example is Romeo Must Die with Jet Li. All kinds of gravity defying wirework and insane stuff, yet in that move Li's character is just a human, there is no reason he should be able to do that stuff. It's the same with Equilibrium. In this movie, Bale's character is a highly trained human being... nothing more. He's not cyberneticly inhanced, he has no super powers... but he is able to go down a hallway with some 40+ soldiers firing fully automaitc weapons at him, not get hit even ONCE, take out all off them reloading twice by twirling and dancing around with two handguns? No. It's so impossible and their is NO in'movie expliantion that justify's it that it takes me OUT of the moment and makes me go 'WTF?' As a rule, for action orenated movies, I prefer realisim to crazy over the top cheese and whatnot anyway. I tend to like movies like Year of the Gun that deal with a gun fight in a far more realistic manner... or for Tight hand to hand or weapons combat, something more like The Hunted. However, if a movie is going to go over the top... I like for them to create a world in which what happens makes sense... so I accept and belive it in the context of the movie. Equilibrium failed on an EPIC level in that regard. Also... the friking 'Gun-Kata'... so annoying, so utterly stupid IMO. We have quite a few folks on this forum who are also skilled with firearms as well as swords. Ask aNYONE with any firearms training, and they will tell you what an amazingly stupid concept the Gun-Kata is. So yeah, not a fan of that movie.

LOL never heard of the movie but did a youtube search.............. Man I gotta admit it looks stupid, especially the sequence shadowhowler mentioned with the 40 some guys in a hallway vs 2 handguns. With that many guns he should have been hit by stray bullets alone. Exactly. That many guys, with an unobstructed line of sight and field of fire, shooting full auto at one, unarmoured man, and not a single bullit hits him? Yet he flips and twists and jerks his guns around in every which way, and shoots and kills ALL of them, who ARE armoured BTW? Ugh.

is it so hard to believe that some people just watch movies for what they are, knowing full well that they are totaly wrong (or full of crap). if we only watched movies that were believeable then most ( if not all ) action movies would be out of the question. i cannot believe that people read so much into a movie that is so intentionaly un believeable. it is set in a future world . i think we should lighten up a little and take them for what they are, an escape form reality. sorry if this offends but it is just a movie not real. buy the way if you watched the third matrix you would have noticed that neo also has his 'powers' in the real world when he stops all the squidgy (sorry cant think of what they are called) things. so where is the reality of which you speak. just my @ cents

For me, it is kind of a torintino type of thing. Awesome because it is utterly ridiculous. It is a lot more than the average human could even wish to do, but that is what makes it so entertaining. I mean, if I want realism, I watch UFC. Just my unwanted two cents... I'll go now. ;D

Sean, you're looking for realism in movies? I see your point, but I can't say that I agree- the suspension of belief isn't so hard simply because it is a movie, not real life. I get that, I know that going in- the cool part was pretending that Jon Preston could do those things- but seriously, the whole movie was fantasy.
An autonomous city-state where the populace was kept under control by a twice-daily drug regimen, the destruction of all things passionate and a Gestapo style police force to keep order? Come on...you know that's never going to happen!
--famous last words right? LOL
What's funny to me is that the argument even got heated...these are MOVIES folks!!! Sean, you're probably not a fan of kung fu flicks then?
terryzac - that was my point as well.
