Hello all!
Yesterday I got my long awaited Kriegschwert, and boy was it worth waiting on! Here is the glory picture of it
Ordered the 8th of May, delayed due to new fittings, delayed in Norwegian customs, and then finally arrived at the local post office.
This is my very first medieval sword. Me (as many others) have allways been a "Katana guy," but not any more!
Being a longsword I was prepared to use force to hold and swing this baby and almost became stunned when it was just slightly heavier than my katana
So far I've only cut a couple of thin branches (couldn't help it...) and the two cardboard boxes they came in. I have close to zero cutting experience, but the light and barely unsuppoerted cardboard boxes we're sliced to piesces, great! ;D
I am still amazed by the balance and looks of this sword and the brown "antique" leather is amazing, amazing, amazing!
I think I'll let the pictures do the rest of the talk and I might update this a bit more once I've got to use it som more =D
Note: As there are so many pictures (and I definately failed at resizing them...) I'll post them as thumbnails. Click for the big and fancy versions =)
The box came and my expectations were high:
I was not dissappointed:
Nice to know...:
The sun came out and made the sword go "invisible"
The leather colors are just amazing!:
Another glory picture ;D
From a different wiev:
Haven't taken this baby appart yet, but looks easy enough =)
Pommel is nicely done and the leather is well done on the grip
More of the nice grip
Everything is nice and tight here
Tip looks great. No bends, no scratches
This tiny spot of rust is all I could find that was not perfect on this sword. Any tips on how to remove it??
99 % straight =D
The chape (correct term?) of the scabbard was slightly bend due to harsh mail services in Norway. Hardly noticeable.
The belt and fittings I got with it =)
I think they were right about the "This sword is sharp!"-warning
I love pizza, and so does my Kriegschwert, obviously...
When I was done the two cardboard boxes the sword arrived in was reduced to, uhm, well... piesces of cardboard I guess
And finally the proud owner of a Valiant Armoury Signature Line - Kriegschwert!
That's it for now
