I'm looking to purchase my 2nd Euro sword. My first was a Del Tin Gothic Bastard (straight guard) I bought in 1996. I'm 5'7" and it's big on me (I wear it on my back at ren faires).
I'm looking at the Black Prince currently. My 1st question is: is the handle on this sword much bigger than the average katana handle? I can't tell from pictures.
2nd question: Is there a 1.5-2 hander out there with a shorter blade, say roughly 30"?
Thanks in advance.

More then a couple makers produce swords called 'Black Prince'... two come to mind quickly and there is a third on the tip of my tongue... which one are you refering to?

Arms & Armor makes THE Black Prince. Gen2 has one and also Valiant Armoury off the top of my head. How about this one for a hand and a half with a 30 inch blade?

I was referring to the Gen2 Black Prince. On the German bastard, that looks great (just read the review). It's a good prospect, though do you know the type of steel and if it's peened at the top?
I understand the Black Prince is made of 5160 steel and peened. I could be wrong. If I get one it will be at AoV since they can modify the handle.

Those are beautiful swords.
I thank you all for your replies and recomendations. However, I've opted to go with Brendan at Fable Blades. It will cost a bit more but I will have a sword with the type steel, size, specifications and design I like. One of a kind and made just for me.
Exciting times ahead. Thanks again.

Did you post this just to taunt me? Nope, still don't have a job, lol, but I should by the end of the week one way or the other. If I can hijack this thread now that its purpose is fulfilled, does anyone know the waiting time for the Type XIII?

lol ! The waiting time i experienced to get mine was related to the work Christian made on it, for the sword was available at the moment i bought it, so i cant help you in this regard. You should contact Christian directly for he may be the only one ( maybe Shootermike too ) who knows Angus's time schedule. Tempting you or not, one thing i can tell you is that this is a sword you wont regret buying Yrx
