(insert your own SLO-meets-face sound effects here)... Okay! ;D "hey man check this out! I welded this myself, it's strong as heck, watch this!" Whack! Splortch! "OH GOD MY EYE! THE DAMNED THING WENT THROUGH MY EYE!" ". . . Wow, dude. Not only did it go through your eye, but it went out the back of your head, sailed fifty feet, and nailed your pet chihuahua through the heart while he was humping grandma's leg. Grandma's pissed now because she's bleeding and currently has a horny, dead chihuahua stuck to her leg, thanks to you." ". . . Did you get it on video?" --Edward

In my Asian heritage and culture they have a very apt philosophical saying about such things...
That is whack!

AHA the truth is out.All this time after watching the Conan movie I thought you just poured hot liquid metal into a mold, cooled it in the snow for heat treatment and it was done. This is even easier so how come all the sword smiths charge so much for a sword when this is all it takes to make a katana, weve been getting ripped off for years ;-) I hope no one really believes those instructions,I know before the sword forums I was quite a bit naive about blades but never that bad. I really hope no one gets hurt not with a bad blade but even making it you could get seriously hurt. It's funny until you realize the darwin equation this could thin out the herd substantialy

The sad thing is...I can see some fourteen year old ninja wanna be trying this.
'So, dear old Dad says I'm not responsible enough for a sword! I'll show him! I'll take this finely crafted blade to show him that I am now TEH SAMURAI MASTA!'
.....
This won't end well.

Make me realize that 90% of the anime replicas and SLO's out there suddenly don't seem so bad anymore. ;D ROFL this was brilliant.

I have just recently gotten "into" swords, and do not know a lot about them......... I would not have taken this seriously. Also I do not consider myself the sharpest tool in the shed..... with that said, what scares me is that someone WILL try this. Hopefully the need for a mig welder may prevent some from actually doing it. I do have a welder for rent... cheap

The sad thing is...I can see some fourteen year old ninja wanna be trying this. HEY!!! I resent that remark! ;D (I'm joking, there ARE some pretty dumb teenagers out there. ) Yeah, I may be 14, but there's no way in the world that I'd have EVER seriously believed those 'tutorials'. Pretty funny, though. ;D -Slayer

The fact that you're posting on these forums means that you're above the level of the fourteen year old I was mentioning.
I have a cousin in particular I was thinking of, who tried to train with a few of my ARMA buddies and I when I was still in the organization.
....
It didn't end well.

I do try to hang out with people older than me, actually. I only have two friends my age. ;D I understand JUST what you're talking about, though. I know a few guys who rigged a back scabbard for an SLO and then proceeded to TRY to do that whole video-game *swish, swish, insert into back scabbard* thing. Needless to say, the poor idiot ended up with a sword (like-object ) in his back. *Facepalm* Morons. But, hey? What is that signiture some guy has around here? "There are three methods of gaining wisdom. Imitation is easiest, reflection is noblest, and experience is bitterest"? (That's just what I remember. I'm sure I got it slightly off, but that's the main idea. ) I guess they learned by experience. ;D -Slayer
