Hey, what's the deal with the rainbow streaks you get on a blade after the oil has been on it for a few days?
Is there any technique or particular oil I can use to avoid them?
Purely an asthetic concern, but it bugs me.

I have actually seen this on some of my blades and I use 3 in 1 oil. Not sure why it does it, but I am sure it is fine. Kind of like when it is raining and you can see a rainbow in the puddles. It is from the oil sitting on the surface. Perhaps it is because the blade had water on it when you put the oil on???

I don't think it's avoidable, or has anything to do with water, I use sewing machine oil for my blades and it happens. I think this is just what happens when light reflects on oil, chemical composition, who knows.

I don't have this issue, but I apply my oil with a silicone cloth. Of course, that means it doesn't shine...
