Yeh, I was board and crusing Evilbay, I dont have a acount so I just look, went through the Harley stuff and tattoo stuff, and just for sh%$# and giggles I went and looked at Viking swords, gues what i found! Some one going by the handle of "thebestblade" selling a 10th C. viking sword, the big pic was the sword I think, but the close up was copeyd from DSA and so was the discription, it's still fals advertizing and reportable, If you tell Ebay, they should take the listing off...........................SanMarc.

I take it that you reported it? It's been removed I think.... Nope , haven't reported it, as I'm not sure any rules have been broken, I don't think I own the images. I haven't copyrighted them. As far as I can tell, it is still active.... I see the auction when I click the link anyway.... You don't have to explicitly copyright something you produce. If you write something, draw something, take a picture, it's your intellectual property and in theory it's illegal for anyone to use it or make copies of it without your permission. I also agree that you should notify eBay about this. If the seller is being dishonest about the pictures they might be dishonest about all kinds of things, and you just might be saving someone else from getting ripped off.

I actually bought a sword from that best blade guy- it was the Windlass Crecy War Sword; I was talking with my wife about this because I can't tell if it is the actual one or not. No Windlass sticker, just 'India' etched into the blade near the guard. It looks like one that didn't pass QC. I'll let you know how it transpires.
As for the pics, I guess it wouldn't be such a big deal if the seller wasn't posting pics of real swords but shipping SLOs, if I understood that correctly? That IS false advertising and unfortunately, it is too easy to just cancel an account and start up a new one. I wish eBay had better policing with regard to their sellers...some of those guys are just rip off artists.

I think it depends on whether or not they're actually selling the swords in the pics. Or at least the model.
It is some sort of intellectual property theft. They making money from your pictures. I think they may legally owe you.
It's just weird. Why not use a stock photo or make your own?

I don't know what, if anything, they'll owe him (monetarily speaking) but they may have to remove the pics. They didn't take them, they weren't stock photos- he ripped them from SFI.
