Sword #264 Reviewed by: Brian Stine (Greenfield,Indiana USA)
I bought these swords because, I found the link to this site on here, SBG. I was just looking around and I seen that they have 20% off daily specials. So I thought I would buy some just to see how good they were.
Both swords were packed the same, Placed in the sword bag, Then put inside Styrofoam holders, put inside tubes, and then put inside boxes.
Blade: High carbon steel 1060, heat tempered;
Hamon: polished on
Saya: Black & Red lacquered wood
Fittings: Iron;
Blade Length(with habaki): 29"
Handle Length: 10.6"
Overall Length: 39.6"
Weight (without Saya): handmade swords says its 2.3 lb
DESIGN, FIT & FINISH
The Blade :
The (NO-HI) blade had a nice finish to it. I really liked the look of this blade.
The Tsuka :
I was less impressed with the Tsuka. The Rayskin looked very thin in spots, and the fittings looked kinda cheap. I started to wonder if they were plastic. But they are Iron. The Menuki were at the finger tips... I hate that! I think they should be in the palm!
The Menuki are the the same on both swords.
The Tsuba :
The tsuba had a nice design, I was happy with it.
This tag was attached to the tsuba. I tried to find out more about this FURUBUSHIDOO name but most everything lead me back to handmadesword.com . so I didn't find out much about them.
The Saya :
It was your basic saya, but I love the black and red.
you can see it best in the top pic.
TESTING : It is way to cold outside to do any cutting, but I did cut some paper for you.

Just in case that didn't embed heres the link.
CONCLUSION :
The sword is $99.99 regular price. I got it with the 20% daily discount. making it $79.99. I would say that this is a good buy even at 99.99.
Fit and Finish: 4/5 The tsuka took it down.
Handling: 5/5
Structural Integrity: 5/5 everything nice and tight!
Value for Money: 4/5
OVERALL: 4.5/5 I'd buy from hadmadeswords again.

The Blade
I didn't think it was as nice as sword # 264
The Tsuka :
Like the other sword. I was less impressed with the Tsuka. The Rayskin looked very thin in spots. And again! The Menuki were at the finger tips... I hate that! I hate that! I hate that! They should be in the palm!
The fittings were much nicer on this sword. At least I liked them more.
The menuki are the same as the other sword.
The Tsuba :
I think it looks like a bee landing on a flower?
The Saya : Just your standard saya.
TESTING : Again, its way to cold outside to do any cutting, but I did cut some paper for you.

I bought this because I may customize one of my swords.
the only thing that I seen wrong with it was some small grinding mark on the side.
I got it from handmadeswords for $12.99! I think thats a good deal even with the grind marks... You almost cant even see them!
