Here is a "Out of the Box" review of my Hanwei Practical Hand and a Half Sword which arrived yesterday, this was a replacement for a flawed one (see post in General Discussion Forum). all problems soon solved by my Hanwei dealer,
Production Katana is what i normally buy so please forgive any incorrect terminology.
Sword arrived well packaged with no rust or dirt on the blade just a thin coat of oil.

Scabbard Throat

this wood grain scabbard is made from plastic not wood, but looks very good.
The blade has a good spring temper to it, Hanwei advertise 50 HRC,
You can flex the blade a good 6 inches either way and it returns straight,
not a wobbly blade or to stiff, just about what i expect for the given blade dimensions.
Fit and finish is very good with no rattles, i am pleased with this purchase,
this blade fuller/design seems to be the new version as advertised on Hanwei's website, very similar to the Bastard Sword.
This sword balances very well and can be easily used in one hand
I may sharpen it one day, and add some custom parts.
thanks for reading this mini review, hope you have found some of it interesting
this sword is well worth the money and is very strongly built. 5/5 on all counts.
