This sword just falls outside the $300 mark, I havent had a detailed look at US retailers but I think it should be somewhere around $325...
I got this sword about a month ago, i didnt post a review because I know as much about European Swords as I do about particle physics, but Im sitting here bored so I figure ill give it a go anyway, though itll be mainly pictures...
When Hanwei first released pics of this sword I wanted one, I had intended to get one as soon as they came in stock from the US however as always other swords in the interim pushed the Cromwell back, which as it turned out was a good thing because there were some issues with the first batch, but they sorted that out...
Im thrilled with the sword, the basket is a very good size, I was worried about it having big hands but its nice and roomy and I have no problems swinging it around. The grip is sharkskin, which feels exactly the same as the same they use on japanese swords, sharkskin has wire wrapping around it and its colored nicely to match the sword. The gold work on the basket is superbly done.
Dont know what to say about the blade, I flexed it somewhat and it straightened up, has a bo-hi along alot of the blade and it looked weird wothout a hamon LOl. Holding it it feels more like a swinging sword than a stabbing sword though the tip tends to indicate its for stabbing so im not sure whats going on there (designed with both in mind or balance off or do I not know what im talking about?)
The saya is nicely done although I think its a little plain compared to the rest of the sword. The fit between the sheath and sword is very good, and ill also point out its the first sword ive owned that has vaguely sounded like it does in the movies. LOL
As they say a picture is worth 1000 words so presenting a 12000 word review..
Apologies for the poor blade shots, tried every combination of light dark inside outside and these were the best. Happy to try to take specific pics if anyone want some...
