This is szabli first sword review.
For a long time i was looking for a beefy and heavy katana.
I didn't pay much attention for Hanwei products.
Can't remember on which online store i found nice pictures of W&T katana, different then standard Hanwei's . I checked specification and ...
these were the same as measurements of Japanese katana i liked on www.e-sword.jp.
I decided to order W&T saber from Marc (wiwingti). I give Marc high score for great deal and professional service.
Katana came from Hanwei TN location.
Packed very well. Double carton box . Katana cowered in brocade bag with fusahimo neatly tied and then in a thick plastic bag (several Silica-gel bag's). In inner box Hanwei's cleaning kit.

When i took katana in my hands i said to my self "tomeczku znalazłeś właściwą katankę". specifications of w&t matched how my arms and hands are build. So katana is right for me.
Hanwei Specifications:__________ my katana:
Blade length: 29 1/2“---------------- 29 5/8 "
Handle length: 11 3/4”--------------- 11 15/16"
Overall length: 42“
Weight: 3lb 5oz
Point of Balance: 7“ ------------------ ~7"
Width at Guard: 1.37"---------------- 1 3/8"
Width at Tip: 1.18" ---------------- 1 3/23"
Thickness at Guard: .35"----------------- 5/16"
Thickness at Tip: .3" --------------- ~7/32
Sori: 3/4" ---------------- 7/8
Blade sharp but not razor sharp
hamon shugata- very milky
Finish: polish looks like mirror. The blade has minor cosmetic defect.
Munesaki looks like it isn't polished, but according to hanwei quality requirement it's nothing out the norm.
[a href=""][/a]
[a href=""][/a]
[a href=""][/a]
[a href=""][/a]
[a href=""][/a]
[a href=""][/a]
tsuka: fittings and tsukamaki tight, samekawa- panels which i find that they differ from each other by the size of the noodles.
[a href=""][/a]
I like the menuki.
[a href=""][/a]
IMHO golden finish on fuchi kashira is unnecessary -plain black finish would be better but taste may very...
[a href=""][/a]
[a href=""][/a]
[a href=""][/a]
Saber doesn't rattle in the saya
[a href="."].[/a]
Todays cutting: (right now i don't have the cutting stand, so i used a thin stick stuck in the ground)
-to cut through the noodles -must be a very clean cut, but cuts well even though the blade isn't razor sharp.
-rolled up newspaper (soaked in water beforehand) cuts like a knife through butter. First time in my life i had cut rolled paper.
[a href=""][/a]
[a href=""][/a]
[a href=""][/a]
[a href=""][/a]
This katana has to be my favorite cutter.
Overall I feel that this katana is built for my body dimension. I feel this katana...
The only things missing are:
-not well defined yakote- blade looks more like shobu zukuri (it is cool somehow for me),
[a href=""][/a]
-tsuka shape should more follow sori of blade,
-difference in the samekawa panels ,
- unfinished polish.
I think that if Hanwei put more effort to the details they would have more customers.
But i am happy with my purchase.
thank you for looking
