Hello to all SBG member's.This is my first Review so please bear with me.Also the cam i'm using is absolute semprini.Sorry...
On with the show...
As for who Sino Sword's are well there's many post about them so all leave it up to you to do the research(not that hard really).
Enough with the bloody formalities lets get to the good stuff .....oh yeah and the not so good stuff.
Initial Impressions
Well i'l let the sempriniesque cam do most of the talking even though it wont record sound...
So all looks good so far but wait happiness cant last forever dumd...dumd...dumd...
That right crack and not the good stuff(REALY KIDDIND..no really..)
To bad because the ito-maki was really tight looked real good .
Ah well i guess i'll have to make a new core ,lucky me a ordered a extra tsuka...
But it wont fit ...i can fix this.
These are the 2 tsuka i got(the blue one is cracked)
and one black
I contacted the seller about the crack tsuka and was told to fill it with crazy glue...As if i would do that...so not to happy with the customer service after i got the product but.. ah well.
The shipping package was in good shape and the gift box was awesome .I was expecting just plain old styrofoam, the sword bag was just a plain black witch is ok.I don't like the flashy one's.
Statistics
Steel:T10
Nagasa:28 ''
Sori:0.68 ''
Hamachi:1 1/4''
With at the kissaki:7/8
Kissaki:3.5''
Hamon: custom
Tsuka :12'' with slik ito
I chose the T-10 tool steel. Most of my blade are 1065,1095 ect ..so i felt like trying something new .
The polish looks to be mirrored, not bad but i would have like to see the hamon better.(really hard to pick it up on the cam i'm using)I'll be trying my hand to some hazuya & jizuya stone later...
The kissaki came out nice although the polish could have been better.
The blade came very sharp.but test cutting will come after the snow's gone(Yes i said snow)dam Alberta weather...
So on to the Koshiare
The saya came with a beautiful metallic red finish and seam's to keep away those pesky finger prints. The blade as no rattle in the saya.
The tsuba is made of steel and is a hanjiro style. It seems to be a bit small but it will work.(i'll be doing some work to it later)
The extra tsuba is steel also but has a oak leaf pattern.
The Fuchi-Kashira on the blue tsuka is very simple as you can see.
There made of copper i think.
The one's on the black one are wave pattern.I have no idea what there made of but there well made and fit nicely.
Handling Characteristics.
I'm about 190 Pounds so all my blade's have no bo-hi(i like them beefy)I ordered this one without the bo-hi and they made a mistake and put one on anyway. No big deal to me,but for some more anal type this would be a problem.I could have made them make me a new one but i did not whant to wait 30 more day's.
It handle's like a dream not to heavy not to light just right.
Conclusions
The overall package was good.I'm happy with what i got for the price. But there are some thing that worry me.but i'll get to that in the pros & cons.I would buy from them again. No one in this world is perfect and we don't always get what we want so i'm not to depressed about the little problems that came with this sword.
Some other's might but that there choice...
Pros.
They did the hamon to my specs and came out great.Even tho my cam cant pic it up.
Blade is up to par with the spec i sent
Real slik ito
Good fitting's
Very tight ito-maki
Well made saya
Nice gift box.
Cons
One cracked tsuka
One that don't fit.
Bad customer service after i got the sword.
So all & all not to bad.
Ps.This was my first Review so i apologize if i left anything out.
